Even in the midst of a global pandemic, you can’t help but get excited about an awards show, and we imagine Jessica Barden and Alex Lawther, the young stars of The End of the F***ing World, might agree with us.

After such a stellar and much talked about first season, it’s always a bit of a worry that the second season won’t live up to expectations. But, after receiving three BAFTA nominations, and winning two of those, I think it’s fair to say the producers of this show can stop worrying about that. The gritty, dark and sharp series is utterly binge-able with its 20 minute episodes, and in our opinion, is well worth the hype.

The premise of the story is fairly familiar: two wayward teens – miserable and needing love but rejecting it in every form – stumble upon each other and off they go on their journey of discovery. Although, this is a pretty condensed version of events. You’ve also got a protagonist who is a self-proclaimed psychopath on a mission to get his first murder, toxic family environments, and a solid amount of blood and gore. As if that wasn’t enough to get you reaching for the remote, the show is also blessed with some pretty superb acting from the leads, and a strong aesthetic which is reminiscent of a 90s indie film.

Whilst this show isn’t hot off the press, it is hot in the press, so if you’ve not had the pleasure of watching it yet, maybe add this to your must watch list.

First shown October 2017. You can watch the trailer by pressing play on the show image, or by clicking here.
