Directed by Michael Winterbottom this comedy dependable with glorious travel sees Steve Coogan alongside Rob Brydon put smiles on all our faces. And this is exactly what we need.

In the London Evening Standard Alastair McKay captures what this series is: “The Trip is a colour supplement brought to life; a travel freebie with two beloved entertainers. It is an ad-libbed holiday with all-inclusive fine dining and a PA at home to iron out the logistics.” The Guardian’s Rebecca Nicholson recognises that this is feel good telly with a witty edge: “For all of its familiar warmth, though, it is sharp enough to cut through the holiday haze.

Brydon asks Coogan what he is most proud of. Brydon says he is most proud of his children. For Coogan, also a father, it is his seven Baftas.” In Vanity Fair Michael Hogan tells us that “Fans of the Trip films will be relieved to know that… the series’ winning formula remains intact: gorgeous scenery, actorly bickering, off-color Bond jokes, and Coogan’s signature brand of performative egotism…If ever there were a time for an escapist fantasy about traveling overseas and eating five-star meals, this is it.”

Here at Must TV, we couldn’t agree more.
